Snippets

A snippet is a saved bit of text you reuse often. Sign-offs, booking links, hashtag bundles, your “if this resonates, follow me” CTA. Snippets live at Canopy → Snippets and are droppable into any Compose draft.

Snippet anatomy

Each snippet has:

  • Title — what shows in the picker. Make it actionable (“Calendly link”, not “Snippet 3”).
  • Content — the text body. Plain text only.
  • Category — cta, signature, hashtags, or custom.

Categories are organizational only — they group snippets in the picker.

Creating a snippet

Canopy → Snippets → New snippet:

  1. Title — short, descriptive.
  2. Content — paste or type.
  3. Category — pick the closest fit (or custom).
  4. Save.

Using a snippet in Compose

Two ways:

  • Slash menu — type / in the Compose editor, pick a snippet from the dropdown.
  • Snippet panel — click the snippet icon in the editor toolbar, then click any snippet to insert at cursor.

Both insert verbatim — Canopy doesn’t rewrite snippets to fit context.

Personalization tokens

Snippets support {{firstName}}, {{company}} etc. — same set as Compose personalization. Useful for snippets you reuse across posts that target different contact lists.

Bulk import

Got a doc full of CTAs / sign-offs you want to bring in? Paste them into Bulk Create and Canopy turns each block into a draft post — then copy each into a snippet manually. There’s no direct snippet bulk import (yet).

Frequently asked questions

Can I share snippets with my team?

Not yet. Each user has their own snippet list. Team-shared snippets are on the roadmap.

Why aren’t my snippets showing up in Compose?

The slash menu only triggers after you type /. Try clicking the snippet icon in the toolbar instead. If that’s also empty, you have 0 snippets — visit the Snippets page and add some.

How many snippets can I have?

No hard limit. The picker UI gets unwieldy past ~50. If you find yourself there, prune the ones you haven’t used in a while.
