LinkedIn accounts
Every Outpilot campaign sends from a connected LinkedIn account. This page covers the connection flow, status pills, proxies, and what happens when a session goes stale.
Connecting an account
Outpilot → LinkedIn Accounts → Connect.
Outpilot uses Unipile as the LinkedIn integration layer. The flow:
- Click Connect with LinkedIn.
- A Unipile-hosted popup opens. Sign in with your LinkedIn credentials.
- If 2FA is enabled, complete the challenge.
- After auth, Unipile begins a background sync — your profile, recent connections, and last 30 days of DMs flow into Outpilot.
- The account row flips to Connected when sync finishes (1–3 min).
You can connect up to as many LinkedIn accounts as your plan allows (see Plans & Billing).
Status pills
Each account row shows a status pill:
| Pill | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Connected | Healthy, sending normally | Nothing |
| Syncing | Background sync in progress | Wait — usually 1–3 min |
| Reconnect required | Session expired or LinkedIn flagged the login | Click Reconnect |
| Restricted | LinkedIn restricted the account | See Restrictions |
| Disconnected | You disconnected it manually | Click Connect to re-auth |
Proxies
Outpilot routes every LinkedIn API call for an account through a dedicated residential proxy matched to the account’s geography. This is important: LinkedIn correlates the IP address an account logs in from, and a sudden datacenter IP from a different country looks exactly like a hijacked account.
You don’t manage the proxy yourself. Outpilot picks one based on the profile’s location at connect time.
If you typically log in to LinkedIn from a new country (e.g. you moved), email support@banyan.app so we can re-pin the proxy. Don’t just connect again — connecting from a new country looks like a takeover and may trigger LinkedIn’s challenge flow.
Reconnect
LinkedIn sessions expire on a schedule (typically every 30–90 days) and on any of: password change, 2FA reset, “log out everywhere”, or LinkedIn-detected anomaly. When a session expires Outpilot:
- Pauses all of that account’s pending campaign actions.
- Sets the status pill to Reconnect required.
- Sends a notification email to the account owner.
To reconnect:
- LinkedIn Accounts → Reconnect on the affected row.
- Same Unipile popup as the original connect — sign in.
- Status flips back to Connected, and queued actions resume from where they left off (no leads are lost, no double-sends).
Multi-account
Plans above Starter support multiple LinkedIn accounts on one Outpilot account. Each account:
- Has its own connection, proxy, send limits, and business hours.
- Can run different campaigns or share campaigns (each campaign picks one sender at create time).
- Has its own inbox view.
Use multi-account when you have a team running outreach from multiple profiles, or you want to A/B persona angles (founder vs. SDR voice).
Account restrictions
LinkedIn occasionally restricts accounts that send too many invites or get reported. Signs your account is restricted:
- “LinkedIn temporarily restricted you from sending invites” banner when you log in to LinkedIn directly.
- Acceptance rate suddenly drops to ~0% in Outpilot analytics.
- The Outpilot status pill flips to Restricted.
What to do:
- Pause every active campaign on that account immediately.
- Log into LinkedIn directly and read the message from LinkedIn carefully. Most restrictions are 1-week pauses on invites.
- Don’t try to bypass the restriction — Outpilot detects the failure and refuses to send invites that LinkedIn rejects.
- Resume sending only after the restriction lifts AND you’ve reduced your daily invite limit to ~50% of what triggered the restriction.
If your account is restricted permanently, email support@banyan.app — we can help you appeal, but LinkedIn has the final say.
Disconnecting
LinkedIn Accounts → ⋯ → Disconnect. Confirms with a dialog because this is destructive:
- Pauses every campaign sending from that account.
- Stops syncing inbox messages.
- Does not delete leads, campaigns, or message history. Reconnect later to resume.
Disconnecting does not log out of LinkedIn itself — your real LinkedIn session in your browser is untouched.
Frequently asked questions
Can two Banyan users share one LinkedIn account?
No — each LinkedIn account is owned by exactly one Banyan user. To hand off, the current owner disconnects it, then the new user connects it themselves.
What data does Outpilot pull from my LinkedIn account?
- Your profile (name, headline, photo, profile URL).
- Your 1st-degree connections.
- DM threads from the last 30 days at first sync; ongoing after that.
- Sent invitations (to detect accept/decline).
We don’t pull your activity feed, your private messages from before the sync window, or anything from accounts you don’t connect.
What happens during the initial sync?
Unipile fetches your profile, connections, and last 30 days of DMs. This is one-shot — after the initial sync, ongoing sync is incremental and continuous (new DMs appear in your inbox within seconds).
Why does it say “Reconnect required” when I just connected yesterday?
Most likely you logged out of LinkedIn (“log out from all sessions”), changed your password, or completed a security challenge that voids existing sessions. Reconnect via Outpilot.
If it happens repeatedly without you doing any of those, email support@banyan.app with your account ID — LinkedIn may be challenging the proxy.
