Getting started with Outpilot

This guide takes you from “blank Outpilot account” to “first campaign running” in about 15 minutes. You’ll need:

  • An Outpilot account on a paid plan (Starter or higher).
  • A LinkedIn account that’s at least 30 days old, with a profile photo and 50+ connections (LinkedIn flags brand-new bare profiles fast).
  • A list of 25–100 leads to start with — even a CSV is fine.

1 — Connect a LinkedIn account

Outpilot → LinkedIn Accounts → Connect.

You’ll see a Unipile-hosted login flow:

  1. Click Connect with LinkedIn.
  2. Sign in to LinkedIn in the popup. If you have 2FA, complete the challenge — you’ll do this once per connection.
  3. Wait for the Sync step to finish (usually 1–3 minutes; it pulls your profile, recent connections, and last 30 days of DMs).
  4. The account row flips to Connected with a green pill.

See LinkedIn accounts for proxy and multi-account specifics.

2 — Set send limits and business hours

This is the most important step for account safety. Outpilot → Settings → Limits & schedule.

Send limits

Conservative starting values for a new connection:

ActionDaily limit
Connection requests20
Messages30
Profile views50
InMails5 (if you have InMail credits)

Ramp these up by ~10% per week if your acceptance rate is healthy (>30%) and you don’t see warnings from LinkedIn. Older / verified accounts can push to ~80 connections/day; new accounts above ~30/day risk restrictions.

Business hours

Set the window when Outpilot is allowed to act on your behalf — typically your real working hours in your timezone. LinkedIn correlates activity patterns; sending at 3 a.m. local time is a tell.

A common starting config: Mon–Fri, 09:00 – 18:00, your local timezone.

3 — Add leads

You have three options:

  • Import a CSV — the fastest start. Outpilot → Leads → New list → Upload CSV. Columns: linkedinUrl, firstName, lastName, email, company, title. Only linkedinUrl is required.
  • Generate from LinkedIn — search Sales Navigator, scrape post reactors, or run a LinkedIn search. See Generating leads.
  • Sync your existing connections — pull your 1st-degree network in as leads. See Connections.

4 — Build a campaign

Outpilot → Campaigns → New campaign.

The wizard walks you through:

  1. Name — a label only you see (“Q2 founders outbound”).

  2. LinkedIn account — which connected account sends.

  3. Lead list — what you built in step 3.

  4. Sequence — drag the step types you want into order. Most starter sequences look like:

    Connection request (with note)
    └─ wait 3 days
    └─ if accepted:
    Send message #1
    └─ wait 5 days
    └─ Send message #2
    └─ wait 10 days
└─ Send message #3 (last touch)

See Sequence steps for the full reference.

  5. Personalization — add {{firstName}}, {{company}}, {{title}} placeholders to messages. Outpilot fills them per lead.

Save the draft. Outpilot does not start sending until you flip the toggle on the campaign detail page.

5 — Activate

On the campaign detail page, flip Status: Active. The first action fires within ~30 seconds (subject to your business hours and pacing).

Watch the Activity tab for the first day — every send/skip/error is logged with a timestamp.

What’s next

  • Read Pacing & limits to understand how Outpilot spreads sends throughout the day.
  • Read Inbox for managing replies — they show up there within seconds.
  • Try the Sales Agent if you’d rather have Outpilot find leads and bootstrap the campaign for you.
  • Try Copilot for a chat interface to the whole product.
